Our Commitment to Privacy
CanonicalCheck Pro is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your data belongs to you, and we've built our tools to respect that belief.
What Data We Collect
Short answer: None.
CanonicalCheck Pro does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) to our servers.
How Our Tools Work
- URL Analysis: When you analyze a URL, our server fetches that URL on your behalf to check redirects, canonical tags, or URL normalization. The URL you submit is used only for this immediate analysis and is not logged, stored, or tracked.
- Minimal Analytics: We use Ahrefs Web Analytics for privacy-friendly traffic analysis. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual users. See "Analytics" section below for details.
- No Accounts: We don't have user accounts, authentication, or any system that stores user data on our servers.
Client-Side Data Storage
Some features use your browser's local storage to enhance your experience:
IndexedDB Storage
- Analysis History: When you use our tools, your analysis history is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
- User Preferences: Any settings or preferences you configure are stored locally
- Your Control: This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings
What's Stored Locally
- URLs you've analyzed
- Analysis results and timestamps
- Tool preferences and settings
What's NOT Stored
- We never store passwords (we don't have authentication)
- We never store payment information (our tools are free)
- We never store personal information
Server-Side Processing
When you use our analysis tools, here's what happens:
- You submit a URL → Our server receives only the URL you want to analyze
- Our server fetches the URL → We make HTTP requests to analyze redirects, canonical tags, etc.
- Results are returned to you → Analysis results are sent back to your browser
- Nothing is stored → Once the analysis is complete, we don't retain the URL or results
No Server-Side Logs
We do not maintain logs of:
- URLs you analyze
- Your IP address
- Your browsing history
- Analysis results
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics for basic website traffic analysis. Here's what you should know:
- Privacy-Focused: Ahrefs Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect personal data
- No Individual Tracking: It does not track individual users or create user profiles
- Aggregated Data Only: We only see aggregate data like page views and traffic sources
- What's Collected: Page URL, referrer URL, country (based on IP, not stored), browser type
- What's NOT Collected: Your IP address is not stored, no cookies are set, no personal identifiable information
For more information about Ahrefs Web Analytics privacy practices, visit: ahrefs.com/web-analytics
Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services:
Ahrefs Web Analytics (as described above) - for privacy-friendly traffic analysis
We do NOT use:
- Google Analytics or invasive analytics platforms
- Social media tracking pixels
- Advertising networks
- Third-party cookies
- CDNs that track users
External URL Fetching
When you analyze a URL, our server makes HTTP requests to that URL. This is necessary to follow redirect chains, extract canonical tags from HTML, and test URL variations.
Important: When our server fetches a URL, the target website may log our server's IP address in their logs. This is standard web behavior and is not within our control.
Data Retention
We retain no data because we collect no data.
Your browser may retain analysis history in IndexedDB, which you control and can clear at any time.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect or store your data, there's nothing to request access to, request deletion of, or request correction of. All your data stays in your browser, under your control.
Security
While we don't store your data, we take security seriously:
- HTTPS: All connections to our site use HTTPS encryption
- No Database: We don't have a user database that could be breached
- Client-Side Storage: Your browser's IndexedDB is sandboxed and isolated per browser
- No Authentication: No passwords means no password breaches
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy practices, we'll update this policy and the "Last Updated" date. Since we don't collect contact information, we can't notify you directly. Please check this page periodically.
Transparency
This privacy policy is honest and straightforward. We're not hiding data collection in legal jargon. We simply don't collect your data, period.
Summary
CanonicalCheck Pro analyzes URLs you provide without storing any data about you or your analyses on our servers. Any data stored is kept locally in your browser under your control. We don't track you, we don't sell data (because we don't have any), and we don't share information with third parties (because there's nothing to share).
